



I"m not sure how much there was but I bet it wasn't even close to 1000 watts total. Although to be honest, there weren't really big concernts either to that point. The phasing problems that there must have been!!! The sound was horrid I'm sure compared to what we are used to today, but say in the late 60's early 70's when a PA was actually loud enough that you could make out what was being played on stage, audience was happy because it wasn't much time before this that you couldn't hear that well in a large venue. I think a lot of PAs were using the same speakers used in theaters, just piles of them. Altec was a big player in the early years, WEM. The more PA you need, the more boxes and amplifiers you stacked on either side of the stage for the most part. Kind of crudely aim the horns at different areas of the venue. Piles of speakers broken up into treble, mids, and lows.
